Dalziels' Bible Gallery - Hagar and Ishmael

Hagar, a young woman, and her son Ishmael are seen on the right of this scene. Behind them is a tent and on the left Abraham can be seen standing at the entrance. Above Hagar flies a bird and by Ishmael's feet two other birds peck at the ground.

Information

This is the wood block used to print the illustration 'Hagar and Ishmael' for the Dalziels' Bible Gallery (pub. 1881). The design was engraved in reverse so that it would print the right way round.
