Information
Like 'Fides' mounted with it, this 'Caritas' is completely different in design and feeling from later versions, particularly the watercolour of 1872 (Collection of Lord Lloyd Webber). It also differs from a contemporary version, also in Birmingham's collection, in which the figure is not as finished. This was also intended for St Edburg's in Bicester, Oxfordshire.
