Information

An unpublished drawing from the collection 'Roadside Songs of Tuscany'first published in 1885. This volume contained illustrations, verse and musical score of Tuscan songs, in this case 'Rispetti'. This particular drawing was not reproduced in the expanded American edition of 1897 and is annotated as having been the 'property' of George Allen, Ruskin's publisher.

Provenance

Bought by John Ruskin as one of the 'Roadside Songs of Tuscant' ( 600 gns); given to John Cadbury of Wasthills, purchased by C Langstone of Hall Green, Birmingham when Cadbury house sold in 1968; purchased by BMAG for £25.
