Information

This painting of a romantic young Rossetti was painted shortly after his death in 1882. It subsequently hung in Holman Hunt's 'drawing room ever since it was painted'. It was based on a chalk drawing (1853) of an almost identical size, now in the collection of Manchester City Art Gallery.

  • Purchased to commemorate the services of Alderman W. Byng Kenrick, 1961.
