Information

Jane Morris was the ndaughter of an Oxford ostler. She had virtually no education when Rossetti and friends first met her when working on the Oxford Union murals in 1857. Whether lovers or not, as described by Christiopher Newall, this drawing speaks of the 'loving intimacy that existed' between sitter and artist.
