From a bound volume containing 86 studies for illustrations to 'The Story of Cupid and Psyche' made to accompany the poem in William Morris''The Earthly Paradise'.A more finished study than 1927P648.1 and was probably the basis for Burne-Jones's oil painting of c.1869-70 'Venus Anadyomene' (Venus rising from the Sea) now in a private collection.
