Information

Possibly a preliminary compositional sketch for the 'The Story of Cupid and Psyche' made to accompany the poem in William Morris''The Earthly Paradise'. Particularly the scene where Psyche enters the Gate of Olympus, with Mercury preceding her, and Cupid through the threshold into the garden where the other Olympian gods and goddesses await her.
