A study for the final painting in the series of seven canvases illustrating 'The Story of St George' for the dining room of the artist Myles Birket Foster, at Witley, Surrey. One of thirteen studies for this subject in Birmingham's collection. The study shows the poses for the procession of figures. St. George and the princess are on the extreme right, walking to the left. There are a number of other figures, some with musical instruments, but not arranged as in the finished picture. The final painting is now in the collection of Bristol City Art Gallery.
