Width: 158 mm Height: 90 mm InformationA sketch for the third painting in the series of seven canvases illustrating 'The Story of St George' for the dining room of the artist Myles Birket Foster, at Witley, Surrey. This scene refers to the Princess drawing the fatal lot labelled 'Moritura' (She who shall die). This compositional study differs very considerably from that finally adopted by the artist. As seen in the 1865 finished drawing in the collection of the British Museum, and the 1866 oil painting in the collection of Hanover College, Indiana.
