Information

This is one of a number of drawings in the collection executed on pages from the same notebook with the watermark 'Joynson 1855.' Betty Elzea has identified the sketch as a copy of an engraving by Marcantonio Raimondi after Raphael's 'God ordering Noah to build the Ark' (c. 1513) (Frederick Sandys 1829-1904: A Catalogue Raisonné, p. 144).

  • Bequeathed by James Richardson Holliday, 1927.
