Information

This is one of a number of drawings in the collection executed on pages from the same notebook with the watermark 'Joynson 1855.' Betty Elzea has identified the sketch as a copy of the engraving 'Child holding a Bird' dated 1511. Sandys appears to have thought the work was by G. Antonio da Brescia but it is now thought to be by the Master P (Frederick Sandys 1829-1904: A Catalogue Raisonné, p. 144).
