Tracing for an illustration engraved by Joseph Swain to accompany the poem 'Rosamund, Queen of the Lombards' by 'C.E.' in 'Once a Week' (vol. 5, 30 November 1861, p. 631). To date this remains the only known original work for this particular illustration.

Provenance

Almost certainly to have been acquired by Charles Fairfax Murray from the artist, or from the sale of the contents of the Sandys family home after the death of Sandys' mother in September 1883 (Elzea).
