Information

This is a study for the watercolour 'Bhanavar the Beautiful,' the frontispiece to George Meredith's popular novel 'The Shaving of Shagpat' (pub.1862). Sandys appears to have made the study using a professional model. Having captured the model full length he then concentrated on drawing her arms on spare sections of the paper.
