Information

This is one of several studies of women made for the figure of John of Gaunt's second wife, Constance, in Brown's painting 'Wycliff Reading his Translation of the Bible to John of Gaunt, in the Presence of Chaucer and Gower.' The name of the sitter is not known but she is likely to have been a professional model.LM
