Information

Sandys used this tracing to transfer the finished design for the illustration 'Sleep' onto the woodblock. A pen and ink drawing of the finished design is at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney. The illustration was commissioned to accompany an anonymous poem of the same name published in the magazine 'Good Words,' in August 1863 (p. 589).
