Information

Sandys was commissioned to design an illustration to accompany the poem 'The three Statues of Aegina' by Walter Thornbury. It was engraved by Joseph Swain and published in 'Once a Week' (26 October 1861, p. 491). Thornbury later reused the illustration in his anthology 'Historical and Legendary Ballads and Songs' (1876, p. 137).
