Information
This is a study for the 1860 watercolour which is in a private collection. It illustrates an episode from the story 'St Agnes of Intercession', by Rossetti, published in the Pre-Raphaelite magazine, The Germ. An etching by Millais of the same subject was intended to accompany Rossetti's story in The Germ.
