Information

This drawing is a study for the painting of 'The Rose Garden', 1862 (Private Collection). The figure was modelled by Georgiana Burne-Jones, as she stands before the rose trellis at Red House, Bexleyheath, Kent, home of William Morris. This was the original concept for the first panel in a series of drawings and paintings based on the Story of St. George, of the Princess Sabra reading in a walled garden.
