Lady Georgiana Burne-Jones

Biographer. Daughter of Methodist minister, W. G. Macdonald. Educated at home and then at the Government School of Design in Kensington, London. Burne-Jones' most famous work is the biography of her husband, Memorials of Edward Burne-Jones (1904), whom she married in 1860. The Burne-Jones' had a wide circle of friends, including Gabriel Dante Rossetti (1828-1882) and William Morris (1834-1896), with whom she formed a close friendship. Georgiana assisted her husband in his work. Following Edward Burne-Jones' affair with Marie Zambaco, she led a more independent life. This included running as an independent for Rottingdean council in 1894 as the only woman member. She served on the council until 1901.
