From a bound volume containing 86 studies for illustrations to 'The Story of Cupid and Psyche' made to accompany the poem in William Morris''The Earthly Paradise'.In the volume in which this drawing is mounted, there is an inscription by Charles Fairfax Murray, stating that this drawing is the first sketch connected with the paintings.
