Information

This design was intended for use with William Morris' metrical romance 'Love is Enough', which dates from 1871-72. The scheme to produce an illustrated edition of it at this time was abandoned, and it was finally issued, with a frontispiece and tailpiece by Burne-Jones, by the Kelmscott Press in 1897. This border was one of eight designed, the others, of flowers and foliage and two initial L's, being designed by Morris himself, were cut by him in 1872. They were finally issued as a set with the Cupid and Psyche illustrations in the late 1880s.
