Width: 237 mm Height: 333 mm InformationA study for the sixth painting in the series of seven canvases illustrating 'The Story of St George' for the dining room of the artist Myles Birket Foster, at Witley, Surrey.One of fifteen studies for this subject in Birmingham's collection. The large central study of clasped hands and the small study of hands above it are for those of the Princes. The two lower studies are for the left arm and hand of the girl scattering flowers in the centre foreground of 'The Return of St George'. The final paintings are now in the collection of the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney and Bristol City Art Gallery. A gouache version, omitting the Princess, is owned by William Morris Museum, Walthamstow.
