Information

This drawing is for the picture of Launcelot at the Shrine of the Holy Grail for the Oxford Union Society. On the back is a study of Rossetti's artist friend Val (Valentine Cameron) Prinsep (1838-1904) which was probably made when he and Rossetti were working on the Oxford Union murals. A recently discovered drawing, virtually identical to this one in pose but much more finished, was sold at Christie's in 2000 (28 November, no. 30).
