Information

One of four studies in Birmingham's collection for the figure on the right in the watercolour 'The Lament' (1865-66), William Morris Gallery, Walthamstow. The sources for this Aesthetic work, which evokes a mood rather than a narrative, are Greek sculpture, especially the Parthenon frieze.
