Female - Drapery Study1864 Accession number: 1904P108 Pencil and chalk on cream toned paper. Width: 176 mm Height: 308 mm InformationOne of several studies for drapery in Birmingham's collection, originally part of a sketchbook. This may be a study for St Cecilia, patron saint of organists, who was often depicted throughout the history of art with a portative organ in her arms. This study shows a figure with a slight sketch of a nimbus around the head, and arms stretched out as though playing a keyboard.
