Reframing Holman Hunt Study Day

The Finding of the Saviour in the Temple

Marking 100 years since William Holman Hunt’s death in September 1910, this study day reassesses aspects of Hunt’s life and career. The four papers examine Hunt’s connections with Orientalism, his celebrated painting The Finding of the Saviour in the Temple, the significance of his works’ frames, and his relationship with his studio assistant and ‘son in art’ Edward Robert Hughes.
