Charles Keene, ‘Madame Zambaco Drawing’ The Drawing and the Victorian Artist Conference has been organised to accompany ‘The Poetry of Drawing: Pre-Raphaelite Designs, Studies and Watercolours’ (Gas Hall, 29 January - 15 May 2011), this conference examines the wider contexts of drawing in the nineteenth century.

The papers will explore a range of subjects including the training of artists, the making and collecting of works on paper, and changing approaches to drawing at the beginning of the twentieth century.

Speakers: Deanna Petherbridge (keynote), Colin Cruise, Brendan Flynn, Colin Harrison, Robert Hewison, Jan Marsh, Pamela Gerrish Nunn, Susan Owens, Daniel Robbins, Alison Smith, Ann Sumner, Julian Treuherz, Robert Upstone, Annette Wickham and Stephen Wildman.

Tickets £30 one day, £40 both days (students £20 one day, £35 both days). Fee includes tea, coffee and lunch.

The Friday programme ends with a free evening private viewing of the Poetry of Drawing exhibition at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery.
